The old Bede BD-5 Micro , a DIY homebuild single person jet that weighted just 450# dry, was a staple of the 1980s. Some 500 kits were sold and they were seen in Bond films and under the colors of the Coors Lite Silver Bullet fliers
Well, the company is still around under the name Freedom Jet and is just selling finished products for military purposes. Specifically they are calling the plane the Small Manned Aerial Radar Target, Model 1 (SMART-1) and its meant for its pilot to conduct danger-close anti-ship missile attacks on naval vessels (for example) cheaper and with more safety margins than unmanned drones.
The Japanese called these kamikazes back in the day. Just saying. Still, they look like a lot of fun to fly.
